God Hears Us When We Pray

Updated: Apr 22, 2024

Notes Here: ⬇️

2 Samuel 22 ESV

4 I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. 5 “For the waves of death encompassed me, the torrents of destruction assailed me; 6 the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. 7 “In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I called. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry came to his ears.

We must combat the lies of Satan with the truth.

We should never believe anything Satan says about us.

However

We should believe everything God says about us.

1 God would not answer Saul's prayer.

1 Samuel 28 ESV

4 The Philistines assembled and came and encamped at Shunem. And Saul gathered all Israel, and they encamped at Gilboa. 5 When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly. 6 And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams, or by Urim, or by prophets. 7 Then Saul said to his servants, “Seek out for me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him, “Behold, there is a medium at En-dor.”

1 Samuel 28 ESV

15 Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” Saul answered, “I am in great distress, for the Philistines are warring against me, and God has turned away from me and answers me no more, either by prophets or by dreams.

1 Samuel 31 ESV

Saul died, and his three sons, and his armor bearer, and all his men, on the same day together.

2 God heard and answered David's prayer.

Psalm 18

6 In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.

Psalm 34:17-18

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is near the brokenhearted; He saves those crushed in spirit.

Psalm 120:1

In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me.

2 Samuel 22 ESV

4 I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. 5 For the waves of death encompassed me, the torrents of destruction assailed me; 6 the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. 7 In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I called. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry came to his ears.

17 He sent from on high, he took me; he drew me out of many waters. 18 He rescued me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me.

3 God hears “my” prayers.

1 Peter 3

12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.

Acts 10 KJV

1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. 3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. 4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. 5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: 6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

1 Peter 3

12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.

  1. WE MUST NOT BE LIVING IN WILLFUL SIN.

  2. WE MUST LINE UP OUR PRAYER WITH GODS WORD.

1 John 5:14

14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

  1. We must ask in faith.

Romans 4:20-21 KJV

He staggered, and not at the promise of God through unbelief; but with strong in faith, giving glory to God; and, being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Psalm 34:17-18

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears and delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is near the brokenhearted; He saves those crushed in spirit.
