Romans 5
18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so ALSO one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.
19 For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by (OR, so also by) the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous. 20 Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 21 so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
DEATH HAS BEEN DEFEATED BECAUSE SIN HAS BEEN DEFEATED.
John 20 ESV
4 Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, 7 and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9 for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
1 SIN BROUGHT THE CURSE OF DEATH.
Romans 5
18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men,
Genesis 3 ESV
19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
Genesis 3 ESV
21 And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.
Romans 6 ESV
23 For the wages of sin is death,
BUT the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 JESUS BROUGHT THE GIFT OF LIFE.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever BELIEVES in him, shall not perish but have EVERLASTING LIFE.
“EVERLASTING”
John 3 ESV
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
Numbers 21 ESV
8 And the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.
John 6 ESV
40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and
believes in him should have ETERNAL LIFE, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
John 12 ESV
32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” 33 He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die.
3. JESUS STOLE SATANS THUNDER.
Galatians 3 ESV
13 Christ redeemed us from THE CURSE of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— 14 so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
Romans 8 ESV
8 There is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION for those who are IN CHRIST JESUS. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he CONDEMNED sin in the flesh,
Sin is Satan’s biggest weapon.
TWO LAWS:
SIN AND DEATH VS SPIRIT OF LIFE
THE RESURRECTION IS OFTEN MISSED BECAUSE WE ARE OVERWHELMED BY THE CRUCIFIXION.
Ephesians 1 ESV
18.. that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
The Hope He called us too.
The inheritance we now have.
The immeasurable greatness of His power
THAT He worked when He raised Christ from the dead.
EPHESIANS 1 ESV
2 And YOU WERE DEAD in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, MADE US ALIVE together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
BECAUSE JESUS HAD NO SIN
DEATH HAD NO POWER TO HOLD HIM.
1 Corinthians 15 ESV
55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?
56 The sting of death is sin,
JESUS DEFEATED DEATH BECAUSE JESUS DEFEATED SIN.
“Kezazah”
Romans 5 ESV
20 Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 21 so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
